Trading Places International Adopts a Family for Christmas

In an effort to help the families of service members, Homefront America, a nonprofit organization, put together the Santa program where these families could be adopted for the holidays.

Trading Places International (TPI) adopted a family of nine. The husband is a sergeant with a Special Forces Training Group based at Camp Pendleton. He and his wife have five children of their own and two foster twin girls.

“By the end of the holidays we came to see that the Santa program was a complete success. Nearly 400 children received toys and over 100 families received toys and food as a result of our sponsors,” said President/CEO Arthur R. Hasselbrink, “the joy of seeing the smiles on the faces of our military children was priceless.  It is without a doubt our Sponsors came through in ways that we cannot begin to put into words.”

Hasselbrink, a Navy Seabee in World War II and the Korean War, launched Homefront America in early 2006 hoping to provide financial assistance for military families while the service member was oversees on duty call.

TPI was proud and excited to heard from the organization how well they did on this year's program. “THANK YOU SO, SO, SO very much to all of you for opening up your BIG hearts and arms to show this family just how much they are loved.  You folks are amazing, and makes what we do here so rewarding.  Please extend our warmest and deepest heartfelt gratitude to everyone at TPI.  We could never have done this without the love and support of folks like all of you.  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.” Mamie Yong Maywhort, Homefront America, Inc.
